GSI to Offer Combined Grading, GemEx Light Performance Report

April 11, 2007

New York - Gemological Science International (GSI) and GemEx have teamed up to provide a combined diamond-grading report that measures the Four Cs and other elements, and includes GemEx's light-performance report.

New York - Gemological Science International (GSI) and GemEx have teamed up to provide a combined diamond-grading report that measures the Four Cs and other elements, and includes GemEx's light-performance report.

"This is the first time that a grading report shares top billing with light-performance analysis based on GemEx's photospectromic technology," GSI Chief Executive Officer Mark Gershburg said in a statement.

Jewelers who have been using the GemEx technology said the combined report is a great idea.

"I've been waiting for this for years," said Gary Gordon, chief executive officer of Samuel Gordon Jewelers, which has been using the GemEx technology since 2000. "The GemEx report is so important to us, and our customers understand it. To wrap up everything in one nice, neat package is utopia."
Up until now, customers who wanted to use both the grading report and the GemEx report had to order two separate documents from the diamond manufacturer.

"We believe that the combined GSI/GemEx report will help take diamond selling to the next level," said Randall Wagner, president and chief executive officer of GemEx, which owns the worldwide patent on a diamond-imaging spectrophotometer. "GSI and GemEx share a commitment to innovation, which is one of the reasons I'm delighted to work with them on this initiative. It is a giant step forward for the diamond industry."

Gershburg agreed, stating that the GSI is offering GemEx light-performance analysis on its reports because the combined components allow consumers to have a more complete view of a diamond and to focus on the beauty of the stone.

"It's romancing the diamond but in a scientific way that consumers easily relate to," he said.

The combined report comes in a variety of formats, from full- to credit-card sized, along with customized designs. It is also fully digitized, including digital plotting. As with every GSI report, once it is printed, it can be viewed online at the GSI's Web site, Gemscience.net. The combined report can also be viewed at the GemEx Web site, Gemex.com.

The combined reports also include a "how to read" guide and other marketing support. Additional materials, including packaging and a viewer, are available from both companies.
